Who Will Care? The Caregiver Crisis
DSPs are one of the
fastest growing positions in the American workforce. Challenges faced by DSPs
have led to high turnover and ongoing vacancies among DSPs. A grassroots effort
is continuing on behalf of DSPs. United Cerebral Palsy, and ANCOR manages a
multi-faceted national advocacy campaign that seeks public support to obtain the
resources to recruit, train, and retain a stable, qualified support processional
workforce that will in turn, enhance and promote community living and enrich the
lives of Americans with disabilities. Come hear more and find out what is
happening in Kentucky and Indiana.

Brought back by popular demand. This session offers ways for employees to build a peaceful work environment by understanding differences among staff members and steps to handle interpersonal difference using conflict resolution strategies. This is essential for all employees who are working on any team. This session would also be of value to front line managers.
Speaker:
Beth C Richardson
Beth is the Director of Training and Leadership with the Council on Mental Retardation and the Training Coordinator for SPEAK. Beth began her career working as a direct support professional in a state institution pre” institutional” reform followed by over 30 years of experience working with people with disabilities and their families, direct support professionals and other professional and management level employees. Before coming to the CMR, Beth worked as a CEO to several non-profits that provided services and supports to people with disabilities in Ohio and Kentucky.
